Cost

£60 for 90+ mins + . PayPal in advance or cash on arrival are both fine.

Will I get a full 60 minutes of massage when I book a 1 hour appointment?

Yes, you receive the full amount of treatment time that you pay for.  You are not charged for the intake and interview process, or the time it takes you to dress.

How Long Should I Book For?

  • Massage therapy sessions are generally booked based on length of time. Your massage therapist can best advise at your first appointment, but generally an hour long massage is the most common choice. An hour of time generally allows your massage therapist to do a full body massage. A ninety minute or two hour massage allows additional time to focus on problem areas. And a half hour massage may be appropriate if you have a specific area of concern, such as only a sore knee or a tight wrist. If you are unsure how long to book for your first appointment, give our front desk staff a call at 780-456-1868 and they can advise you.

What length of treatments do you offer?

The majority of therapists book a 60 minute appointment time. This appointment time includes assessments, and allows time for the client to change. A 60 minute appointment is recommended for a couple of injured areas, or a full body massage without any specific injuries. It is quite difficult to do a full body treatment in an hour if there are many injured areas to focus on. As a therapist, I really enjoy giving 90 minute treatments. It is the best option for a full body massage as it allows the therapist adequate time to work on the injured areas and spend some time on the compensating structures of the body. Our body functions as a whole, so it is important to pay attention to all areas regardless of pain. We also offer 45 minute appointments, as well as 30 minute appointments. 30 minute massage appointments are used if the client has one specific area to treat, such as neck, feet or forearms. A 30 minute appointment could be recommended for those who have not had a massage before and want to give it a try.

What is a cost of a massage?

ow do I talk to my massage therapist about money? I’d like to come more often, but it would be a financial hardship.

People would rather talk about their most embarrassing moments than talk about money. But if you feel your financial situation won’t allow you to receive further treatment, make sure you’ve considered your options.

If you’ve already taken a look at your numbers and still come up short, check with your employer or insurance carrier to see if you might be covered for massage therapy. Many people have coverage, but don’t know it. Conditions of acceptance for third-party reimbursement can vary because insurance coverage varies greatly. Conditions may include full or partial payment, limits on the conditions treated, a maximum number of allowed visits, or you may be required to get a doctor’s referral.

No coverage? There are still lots of options to discuss. Rather than drop massage from your budget (and life) altogether, consider coming in for shorter sessions. Another possibility, if you have some flexibility with your schedule, is to ask your therapist for a spot on their standby list. Your therapist might consider a discount fee if you can pop in for a last-minute appointment. Just like the airlines, sometimes clients cancel. Therapists typically sell their talents in one-hour increments and might be willing to fill the spot so they don’t have a hole in their workday.

Many therapists take credit cards and some will take postdated checks or a series of postdated checks to work out a payment plan. Some therapists have a sliding scale of fees depending on annual income and financial hardship, or they may accept coupons from bartering networks.

If you love massage and communicate to your therapist how much you value it, you might be able to work out an arrangement that’s fair to all parties.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, check, credit card, or gift cards and certificates.

A credit or debit card is required to reserve your appointment, however you are not charged for anything until after the appointment is completed.  After your appointment, you can choose another form of payment.

You can also stop by our front desk to pay a 50% cash deposit if you would like to reserve an appointment without a credit/debit card.

Do you take insurance?  What if I have a flexible spending account (FSA)?

Although we do not accept insurance, many plans do cover massage therapy with a doctors prescription and copies of receipts.  We can also print out all of your visits at the end of the year, and you can log-in to view all of your visits and account details here.

Pre-booking chat

Before accepting an initial booking with a new client, I always arrange a phone call. This is to get a sense of who you are, what you need, and whether I can meet that need. Ask me any questions. If we are both comfortable, we can then arrange a session.

Things to tell me:

Allergies or medical issues. If you have any allergies, anything contagious, or pre-existing medical conditions, mention this before booking, to ensure the treatment and oils I use are suitable for you, and to minimise risk. If you become unwell before your session, definitely reschedule to avoid worsening your symptoms or passing an infection onto me.

Location

I’m based in Gateshead, in a quiet, safe neighbourhood. Free parking is available right outside my door. I’m a 5-minute drive from the A1, turning off at the ‘Angel of the North’, or a short journey from the city centre. Full details provided on booking.
